OCP Project Lead Elections: Nominees Announced for the 2016 - 2018 Term

Announcing the nominees for the OCP Project Lead elections. The OCP Foundation would like to thank all the nominees who have agreed to run for these seats. The testimonial phase will open tomorrow, 28 June 2016.

Leadership of an OCP project is, by far, one of the most important volunteer roles within the OCP ecosystem.

Roles and Responsibilities

The role of an OCP Project Lead includes (but not limited to):

  • facilitate discussions, both online and in-person, that empower and encourage project participants to communicate, collaborate, and contribute to OCP in an open and transparent manner;
  • support the direction of the Foundation by effectively communicating those goals to their projects through the OCP mailing lists, monthly calls, OCP events and various other tools;
  • drive communication between their projects and the Foundation;
  • work closely with the Foundation to grow the reach of their respective projects and that of the OCP ecosystem;
  • focus on the needs of the project participants, the projects goals, and the OCP Foundation’s goals and philosophies.  

In addition the Project Leads must be able to infuse their project with the following traits:

  • strong community leadership;
  • world wide collaboration
  • inclusive vs exclusive approach
  • technical excellence
  • focus on innovation

Nominees

As we enter the testimonial phase of this election, we are pleased to announce the following members of our community which have been nominated for the 9 Project Lead seats.

The following 3 project lead seat nominees are running unopposed and will not require a community vote.

  • HPC - Devashish Paul (IDT) and Manoj Roge (Xilinx)
  • Hardware Management - Bernie Meier (Ericsson) and Norman James (IBM)
  • Open Rack  - Brian Obernesser (Fidelity) and Steve Mills (Facebook)

The following 6 project lead seat nominees will require a vote:

C&I nominees:

  • Asim Rasheed (IXIA)
  • David Wolf (UNH-IOL)

Data Center:

  • Jerry Luo (Ericsson)
  • Jason Schafer (Google) and Robert Bunger (Schneider Electric)

Networking:

  • Carlos Cardenas (Cumulus) and Omar Baldonado (Facebook)
  • Steve Noble (Big Switch Networks) and Lihua Yuan (Microsoft)
  • Scott Boynton (Canonical) and Mike Valentine (Goldman Sachs)

Server

  • John Stuewe (Dell) and Siamak Tavallaei (Microsoft)
  • Jean-Marie Verdun (Horizon)

Storage

  • Jorge Campello (HGST) and Per Brashers (Yttirbium)
  • Kaizhong Gao (Individual)

Telco

  • Kang-Won Lee (SK Telecom) and Bryan Larish (Verizon)
  • Craig White (Nokia) and Doug Haunsperger (Dell)

Starting tomorrow 28 June through 11 July you will be able to add a testimonial for your support of the various nominees. (Links will not be available until Tuesday 28 June 2016) Voting for C&I, Data Center, Networking, Server, Storage, and Telco will begin on 12 July and end on 26 July. The results of the poll will be announced on 27 July 2016.

  • 11 July 2016 - (was 5 July 2016) - Testimonial Phase Ends
  • 12 July 2016 - (was 6 July 2016)  - Voting Phase Begins
  • 26 July 2016 - (20 July 2016) - Voting Phase Ends
  • 27 July 2016 - (21 July 2016) - New Leads Announced
  • 27 - 31 July 2016 - (was 22 - 31 July 2016)   - Transition/On-Boarding of New Project Leads
  • 1 August 2016 - New Project Leads Assume Project Responsibilities

To leave a testimonial between 28 June and 11 July,  please click on the nominees name you would like to endorse and leave a comment.  

UPDATE: If you do not have a Facebook account and you wish to leava a testimonial, please email the testimonial to the OCP mailing list that corresponds with the OCP Project Lead nominee you wish to endorse.  Example if you want to endorse someone running for the Networking Project Lead seat then you would post to the OCP Networking Project mailing list. You will also need to email elections@opencompute.org so we can look for your endorsement and link to it when we repost it the nominees page.

As a reminder, you needed to be signed up on both the mailing list and as an individual member on or before 20 June in order vote.
